Nickel Alloy 201 contains about 99.6% nickel, with a maximum of 0.02% carbon, which minimizes the occurrence of graphite precipitation at elevated temperature service. It possesses tensile strength of about 380 MPa, yield strength of 103 MPa, and elongation of about 45%. The alloy has high thermal and electrical conductivity, is non-magnetic, and possesses good mechanical properties over a broad range of temperatures. Nickel 201 is resistant to alkaline and neutral salts, anhydrous ammonia, and dry gases and is therefore applicable for service in high-temperature, low-carbon environments.

Nickel Alloy 201 Buttweld Fittings are applied in chemical processing, food and pharmaceutical production, caustic soda production, semiconductor manufacturing, and electronic component production. The thermal stability and purity of the alloy render it ideal for use in evaporators, heat exchangers, storage tanks, and fluorine or caustic alkali handling. Its application is also seen in piping systems where corrosion resistance for prolonged periods and weld integrity are necessary, owing to its formability and resistance to stress corrosion cracking. The fittings find applications in those industries where low carbon content and minimal contamination are a must.
