Alloy Steel WP22 consists mainly of iron with nearly 2.00–2.50% chromium, 0.87–1.13% molybdenum, and minor elements such as carbon, manganese, phosphorus, and sulfur. This composition gives the alloy its high tensile strength, which is normally between 415–585 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa or greater, and good elongation of 20–30%. WP22 fittings maintain mechanical stability at raised temperatures and are extremely resistant to oxidation, corrosion at high temperatures, and stress-induced failure, thus qualifying them for long service under demanding operating conditions.
