The chemistry of UNS S32205 contains about 22% chromium, 5–6.5% nickel, 3–3.5% molybdenum, and controlled nitrogen addition. It has a tensile strength of around 620–800 MPa, a yield strength almost double that of austenitic stainless steels at around 450 MPa, and elongation of 25–30%. It has superior mechanical strength over a broad range of temperatures and excellent resistance to chloride-rich environments. The duplex structure also enhances fatigue strength and weldability with low risk of thermal distortion or sensitization.
