Stainless Steel 348/348H Forged Fittings are chromium (17–20%) and nickel (8–12%) containing columbium (niobium) stabilized austenitic stainless steels, with 348H being of higher carbon content (up to 0.10%) for greater high-temperature strengths. The alloys are resistant to intergranular corrosion and possess excellent mechanical stability. They generally have a tensile strength of approximately 515 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and an elongation of about 35%. Their resistance to carbide precipitation with welding and stability at high temperatures make them suitable for applications and pressures in severe service conditions with high heat.
