A234 WPB is a wrought carbon steel alloy normally consisting of iron with 0.30% maximum carbon, 0.29–1.06% manganese, with minute amounts of phosphorus and sulfur. It provides minimum tensile strength of 415 MPa, yield strength of 240 MPa, and elongation of 20% or greater based on size and wall thickness. Such mechanical characteristics give consistent performance for a variety of operating pressures and temperatures, generally up to 427°C (800°F). WPB fittings also have good welding, bending, and forming capabilities, making them flexible with installation and fabrication.
