Stainless Steel 17-4 PH (UNS S17400) is a martensitic precipitation-hardening stainless steel that contains about 17% chromium, 4% nickel, and small percentages of copper (3–5%) and niobium. It offers high strength, tensile up to 1310 MPa, yield up to 1180 MPa, and elongation about 10–20%, depending on the heat treatment condition (H900 to H1150). The alloy has good corrosion resistance, especially in atmospheric and slightly corrosive conditions, and maintains mechanical properties to 600°F (316°C).
