904L Stainless Steel pipe fittings consist of high chromium (19–23%), nickel (23–28%), molybdenum (4–5%), and traces of copper (1–2%) content besides iron. This austenitic stainless steel is highly resistant to corrosion, especially in harsh reducing acids such as sulfuric acid. SS 904L has mechanical properties that include tensile strength of approximately 490 MPa, yield strength of 220 MPa, and good ductility with elongation of more than 35%. It retains toughness and strength at high temperatures and is hence suitable for use in harsh conditions demanding corrosion resistance as well as mechanical properties.
