Stainless Steel 309S Fittings are made of chromium (22–24%), nickel (12–15%), and lesser carbon content (up to a maximum of 0.08%) with iron as the base. The lower carbon content improves resistance to sensitization and is also suitable for welded components. SS 309S has a tensile strength of approximately 520–550 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and elongation of about 40%. SS 309S has good mechanical properties at high temperatures and superior oxidation resistance up to 1000°C (1832°F). SS 309S is appropriate for moderately corrosive and thermal cycling environments, and it provides structural stability and thermal fatigue resistance.
